Straight answers about access, privacy, accuracy, and what OliveAI will and won't do.
Only the course material you are already authorised to see through your own learning-platform account — the slides, recordings, announcements, and dates already available to you. Nothing more.
No. OliveAI never asks for or stores your university password. A connection uses your own already-authenticated session through an approved integration or a companion that works on your behalf.
No. Your course files, transcripts, notes, and generated material stay inside your own data boundary. There is no shared content bank and no cross-student retrieval.
Notes link back to the original slide page or recording timestamp so you can verify any claim. We label AI explanation, inferred lecturer emphasis, and uncertain transcription rather than presenting everything as fact. A coverage ledger shows what was processed and what was missed.
Raw lecture audio is deleted after successful transcription by default. You can change retention preferences, and you can delete a recording, source, course, or your whole account at any time.
The private beta initially supports one Christchurch institution that uses a Moodle-style learning platform and Echo360 recordings. We add institutions one integration at a time.
No. OliveAI is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any university.
No. OliveAI organises and explains material you already have access to, and shows you where each answer came from. It is a study aid, not a way to outsource graded work, and you remain responsible for your own academic integrity.
