Privacy
A plain-language privacy overview
What OliveAI accesses, what it keeps, and the controls you have. Written to be understood, not to hide behind legalese.
We only touch what you can already access
OliveAI processes the course material available through your own authorised learning-platform account — nothing you couldn't already open yourself.
Your data stays yours
Your files, transcripts, notes, and generated material live inside your own data boundary. There is no shared bank of scraped course content and no cross-student retrieval.
We never store your university password
Connections use your own already-authenticated session. We do not request or store university passwords.
We minimise what we keep
Raw lecture audio is deleted after successful transcription by default. You can adjust retention, and delete a recording, source, course, semester, or your whole account.
Encryption in transit and at rest
Stored data is encrypted at rest and all traffic is encrypted in transit.
Private content stays out of analytics and logs
Course content, transcript text, filenames, and assessment details are never placed in analytics events, application logs, URLs, or search indexes.
Placeholder legal notice — review required
This page is a plain-language overview, not a finalised legal privacy policy. A formal privacy policy and terms of service require professional legal review — including New Zealand Privacy Act obligations and recording/student-voice handling — before OliveAI launches. Do not treat this page as the binding policy.
See the security overview for the concrete controls that are implemented. OliveAI is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any university.
